Surgery is Over!

Hi! This is Rachael, Jason's wife. As you know he had surgery today to fix his broken cheek bone. We got to the hospital today at 1:00 and they did all the admitting stuff. Surgery was at 2:30. The doctor said that it would be about a 2 hour surgery. An hour after surgery started, the doctor comes into the waiting room to tell me that everything went well. He said that one thing that took a little more time was that there were some small fractures that were bleeding and he needed to take care of that. He rebroke the cheek bone to put it back in place. He made an incision under Jason's right eye and in his mouth to perform the procedure. The doctor was pleased with how things went.

About an hour and half later I was able to see Jason. He was doing well considering what had just happened. The right side of his face is quite swollen but that is expected. He was in a considerable amount of pain and asking for some pain medicine. The nurse was finally able to give him some to help the intense pain that he was experiencing. That seemed to help somewhat. Pray that he can get some decent rest tonight as he will be staying overnight for observations. We see the doctor tomorrow at noon, and if everything looks good, he will be released to come home.

Thank you to everyone who was praying for Jason today. Your prayers were answered. The Lord's hands were with the doctor today. You can continue to pray for his recovery. He will probably have a couple of rough days ahead of him but the doctor says that it shouldn't be too long. He is to eat soft foods and take it easy.
