One example of this would be to note that 4 of our NMC students/children, ranging in age from 3 to 18, have either experienced a serious accident or illness since the start of 2009.

- Keri Rohr - 9 years old; began her journey of battling cancer on January 2; spent several weeks at Riley Children's hospital in Indianapolis having surgery to remove a brain tumor; currently spends Monday-Friday in Bloomington, IN receiving chemotherapy and radiation)
- Kayla Courtney - 16 years old; involved in serious car accident on January 3; spent over a month at Riley Children's hospital in Indianapolis recovering from multiple injuries. She is now home but still has a long road of recovery ahead)
- Maggie Jernas - 3 years old; daughter of NMC staffer Rodney Jernas; just discovered last week that she has cancer. She had surgery at Riley as well and is currently there beginning chemotherapy.)
- Jason Wilkinson - 18 years old; This past Monday morning he had nasty accident while skiing at Swiss Valley in Jones, MI. He broke his right hip and right femur bone. He had surgery on Tuesday. The doctors said they have never seen anything like it. He could be released from Lutheran Hospital in Fort Wayne any day. He will continue his long rehab from home.
