THOUGHT #1: I’ve immensely enjoyed and cherished the extra time that I’ve gotten to spend with Rachael and Haley during this unplanned “break” from work. It’s been a very special time of bonding for us as a family
THOUGHT #2: Recently I’ve begun doing some more formal “Care Ministry” at NMC, going out and visiting those who are currently hospitalized. Having now been on the opposite side of that equation makes me appreciate and value this ministry all the more. SIDE NOTE: Kudos to Norm Reimer, NMC Associate Pastor, who for years now has been the face of the “Care Ministry” at NMC. Norm is absolutely marvelous when it comes to caring for people. In 2007, Norm personally made over 1260 hospital visits!
THOUGHT #3: I can’t remember the last time I’ve done this little over this long of period of time, since I was in High School.
THOUGHT #4: This is the first time I’ve ever broken a bone, technically. I broke my nose in high school but I believe the nose is only made up of cartilage and not any actual bones
THOUGHT #5: I’m amazed at the incredible medical advances that have been made in recent years and am so grateful to those doctors who are using their God given incredible gifts, abilities and minds to help others during their greatest times of need.
THOUGHT #6: Only by suddenly having all expectations removed from me, have I come to realize how much of my life revolves around expectations, the expectations I place on myself and the expectations others place upon me.
Thought #7: As far as I know Chris Lehane is the only one person who saw my entire accident start to finish, including me hitting my face on the floor. Chris told me when he visited me in the hospital on Friday that seeing the accident left him with haunting images for a least the next couple of days. Sorry Chris!
Thought #8: I gained a whole new level of appreciation for nurses during my first ever overnighter stay in the hospital. As they took care of my every need and served so selflessly, I kept thinking of Philippians 2:3-7 and all it says about servanthood. I’m not sure there can be any profession that exemplifies what it truly means to serve others as the nursing profession. Thanks to all of you Nurses out there who serve so sacrificially and selflessly!
