I Always Wanted to Be Like ROCKY

I’d appreciate your continued prayers as I recover from my freak accident over the weekend while playing basketball (see last post for more details).

It was one long weekend in which I never left the house. Basically I … slept, took my medicine, applied ice to my swollen face, ate and watched movies (most of which I never finished).

For some, not having to do anything may seem like a great way to spend your weekend. However, I had an entire weekend full of events that I was really bummed about having to miss (rest of the DCGO Retreat, tons of Graduation Open Houses, etc.)

I can’t complain though because God’s been good! Both sets of our parents live in the area so they’ve been a big help. Plus, Rachael’s brother, Ted, is currently living with us, so he’s also a huge help. I’m not in too much pain because of the medications I’m taking.

The biggest thing right now is just waiting until tomorrow when I visit the doctor to see how I’m doing and what the next steps will be. This leads me to a few ways that you can keep praying…

(1) Pray for wisdom for the plastic surgeon, Dr. Downs, who I will be seeing tomorrow afternoon. As a few of my comedic friends have already suggested, I’ve needed plastic surgery for a long time and I could have found a much easier way of going about getting in to see a plastic surgeon. The real reason I’ll be seeing Dr. Downs is to assess the extent of my facial fractures and whether the bones will heal naturally on there own or whether I will need surgery.

(2) Pray that I will heal quickly and that as a result I will be able to be weaned off the strong medications that I’m currently on that are keeping me from being able to function with any sort of normalcy (they make me really tired and light-headed).

(3) Our DCGO Team leaves for our ministry trip to Washington D.C. in 12 days, on June 14th. Pray that I would be feeling well enough to still lead this team.

(4) Pray that I will have patience and stay positive and that I will learn whatever the Lord wants to teach me during this process.

during tawg the other day I was thinking about how much we had depended on you for the team. cause if you think about it, the classes, blog, and first part of the retreat were almost all you. God sort of said to me that we built our team around your leadership. I got the feeling that this incident was God's way of refocusing our team. Sorry you were the focal point. But I will definatly pray for you and hope that things go well.
Just felt led to share that with you.
