Summer Camp is Here & God is On the Move

We are now less than 2 days away from the beginning of our 2007 Junior High Camp. I love summer camp but not for a lot of the reasons you might think (i.e. roller coasters, water park, etc.). This year we will be taking 120+ students and leaders from NMC & New Life Fellowship to Beulah Beach Camp. Our Theme this year is "ONE"

I enjoy summer camp for 2 specific reasons ...

(1) I enjoy the personal connection and relationships I'm able to develop over these 4 or 5 days with students. This is the most "tuned out" students will be during the entire year from all the "noise" in their lives. Consequently, it's a great opportunity to pour into their lives. Truly more can happen in 4 or 5 days of camp than may happen in an entire school semester of building relationships and investing in the lives of students. There's a dynamic about that interrupted time together away that allows something special to happen.

(2) God meets with us in special ways at summer camp and moves in the lives of students in powerful ways. Again, there's something about disengaging from all the "stuff" in our lives that allows us to hear the voice of God more loudly and clearly when we are at camp.

This year I sense (and we sense as a Student Ministries Staff) that we are on the verge of seeing something big happen in our ministry. Not just something big but something BIG. Our Senior High students are praying and not just praying but PRAYING. And Scripture says that when this happens watch out! "Then if my people who are called by my name will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, I will hear from heaven and will forgive their sins and restore their land" (2 Chronicles 7:14). I believe a Spiritual Awakening is upon us. The Spirit of God is stirring and think it's time we jump on board if we haven't already and hold on tight because when it begins it's going to be way bigger, way faster, even maybe for some way scarier than any roller coaster you could ride at Cedar Point. It's "GO" time!
